Prometheus: DVD/Blue Ray Release 10/09/2012

Attn sci-fi fans:

The prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise, it promised to answer questions about the acid-dripping monster’s world. Making Prometheus the most anticipated movie event of the year..

In 2089, astrophysicist Dr Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and her partner Charlie (Logan Marshall-Green) unearth an ancient cave painting that confirms the existence of an extra-terrestrial race. Bring in a Wealthy industrialist Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) who agrees to finance the voyage to the planet.

Prometheus is captained by Janek (Idris Elba) – provides the transport for Weyland company executive Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) and the crew, including geologist Fifield (Sean Harris) and medic Ford (Kate Dickie).

Operations android David (Michael Fassbender) casts a dispassionate eye over proceedings, but the explorers are woefully unprepared for what awaits them.

There are some intriguing ideas and sub-plots embedded in the script, Tensions rise and come to a head in a game of cat and mouse between wily xenomorphs and human interlopers.

I was incredibly disappointed and somewhat bored during the screening. This is worth seeing for nothing more than a better and more complete understanding of the Alien Franchise. Perhaps on future viewings I will gain a better appreciation for the movie.

A nine-disc Blu-ray box set, comprising Prometheus, the four Alien films, plus a T-shirt and other extras, is also available.
