This is a stop motion animated movie, I thought, when you see the commercial, it looked like a computer generated movie, I was wrong. This does not take away from the movie, it’s really a fun story.
Think Sixth Sense and Salem Witch Trial with a little bit of Zombies added and you get the core of the movie. Since the main character is a boy in middle school, who can see ghosts, his parents just don’t seem to understand him, he gets bullied at school, his big sister is no help, just like a teenager, she’s boy crazy. Well Norman, that’s the boy’s name, he takes it in stride, well I should say that his grandmother, she’s a ghost, keeps him grounded, she watches over him. There is another kid in school who is trying to be Normans friend, but Norman kinda shy away. As the story progresses, the history of the town comes to real life. The history of the town, well the wise old men, of the time, they put a witch to trial, and before she died she cursed them. Thats were the zombies come in, every year she would rise up, and raise those that condemned her, and wreck havoc in the town. Normans legacy is to calm the witch before she rises, that doesn’t happen, and well thats when the fun starts.
In the end Norman is the hero, the bullies, well , there bullies, Norman has friends, and the witch , who turned out to be a sweat little girl, who was wrongly accused of being a witch , by the old superstitious town elders, who are afraid of her. She is finally brought back to her good side, and is able to pass on. Normans big sister has a crush on the big brother of Normans friend, who turns out to be gay, which was kind of odd to bring in, but it worked. This movie is good, and I will be buying the blueray/dvd when it comes out, I hope with a lot of extras.
